Under the open skies at Lahooti Melo 2024, Hyderabad Edition, Fakir Zulfiqar and Saif Samejo sat down to trace a musical lineage deeply rooted in soil, story, and song. Zulfiqar spoke of his journey—from ancestral pulse to present-day purpose—illuminating the rhythms of Sindh through voice and verse. This session also features the late Dr. Aakash Ansari, whose bond with Zulfiqar's father was woven in mutual respect, poetry, and shared memory—echoing through the conversation in soulful remembrances.

Uth Sindh Saeen is Lahooti’s first anthology dedicated to the Indus River — a collective cry against further canal construction and a call to recognize the river’s personhood. Curated by Areesha Khuwaja, the anthology weaves together years of conversations with storytellers, water experts, policymakers, and movement elders, forming a chorus of resistance rooted in memory and care. It stands as both a record and a refusal — refusing the erasure of Sindh’s lifeline, and recording the deep cultural, ecological, and spiritual bonds that tie people to the river.
MITHA MEHRAN MAIN MILBO
“Mitha Mehran Main Milbo” brings together young voices and veteran artists in a stirring tribute to Sindh and Mama Jumman Darbadar. Anchored by the haunting line, “In every birth, may we be born in Mehran and meet here,” the song has become an anthem of belonging and resistance — echoing across protests, movements, and gatherings. Especially in the face of injustices like canal projects that strip lower riparian communities of their rights, this is more than a song.
It’s a vow. A homecoming.
